Joan believed that in order to properly construct this quilt, it was first necessary to discover the inner life of the Scotties, how they felt about life, how they saw their universe, how to make them happy. And, when she discovered they might be a wee bit chilled by the damp weather of a spring rain we were having, she made sure they each had a warm and proper sweater. "You have to become a Scottie and get inside a Scottie to know a Scottie," she said. Why not?
